Vending Machine Evolution

Vending machines have evolved over the years. Today we have advanced vending machines like the Antares vending machines. To have reached this stage of vending machines a lot has happened since the early days. Nowadays vending machines are found all over the world and are vending all type of products.

The first coin operated vending machines were invented in the early 1880’s and were introduced in London, England. Now over a century later we have vending machines like those provided by Antares Corporation and other companies.

In 1888, Thomas Adam introduced the coin operated vending machine to America and started a whole new concept in the United States.

Vending machines began to really evolve in the 1900’s. In these early years a restaurant named Horn and Hardart was opened, and had coin operated vending machines. It stayed open for six decades. These machines were filled with fresh items and cold beverages and became quite popular.

As the early 1920 approached, the first soda machine came to be. This machine dispensed soda into cups. This is quite a long way from the machine of today. For example the Antares vending machine dispenses soda in bottles and cans. Today all types of coin operated soda vending machines are available, with added features such as;

1) Coin changers

2) Dollar bill changers

3) Credit card swipers

Vending machines have really come a long way, and have evolved over the years. Today people find them more convenient than going to the gas station or the corner store.

In a way we can say that vending machines are still evolving because at the beginning they were vending simple products like postcards, and now machines like the Antares vending machines are vending snacks and cold drinks. They even change dollar bills! Machines today are vending a variety of products and what I think is that the evolution will not stop because of the technical advances that are being made in vending. We can look forward so much more from the vending industry.
